Leave Of Absence

Life events may require time away from work. BrightSpring provides eligible employees with leave in accordance with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), applicable state and local leave laws, and BrightSpring leave policies.

Need to Request a Leave? If you need time away from work for your own medical condition, to care for a family member, for the birth or placement of a child, or for another qualifying reason, review the resources below to understand how to request a leave and what to expect while you are away.

If you are enrolled in BrightSpring benefits, your benefits may continue during an approved leave depending on the type of leave and applicable plan rules.

If benefit premiums cannot be collected through payroll while you are on leave, you will receive information about direct billing and how to pay your portion of benefit premiums.

Please review the applicable benefit plan documents, leave policies, and Employee Handbook carefully for complete information about benefit eligibility and continuation during a leave.

State Leaves

Depending on where you work, you may also be eligible for benefits through a state-paid family or medical leave program.

Eligibility, benefit amounts, duration, and application requirements vary by state. Review the applicable state program and BrightSpring leave information carefully to understand how state benefits may apply to your leave.

Disability

A leave of absence and disability benefits are related, but they are not the same. Approval for a leave does not automatically mean you are eligible for disability benefits, and approval for disability benefits does not by itself determine your leave eligibility. For information on disability, please visit the Disability page.
